Although Alta Vista has been around for a while it doesn't have the popularity of other search engines such as Yahoo, Ask, and Google. Alta Vista has an edge over the competition because it allows you to search in all languages. You can also use Alta Vista to search in English and Spanish only. Another thing that makes Alta Vista unique is that it is the only search engine I have found with a dedicated music search. This gives instant access to the latest hits and your favorite music.
The cons of Alta Vista are simple. Because it offers so much, Alta Vista tends to be more slow than other engines. It is also not as precise. It can take time to find the right answers among numerous results. I would recommend Alta Vista to anyone who is interested in international studies.

It was announced today on Google's official blog that a new version of their web browser, Chrome, was released for Mac. The new release includes features such as the ability to sync your bookmarks with other Apple devices. The new version of Chrome is available directly through Google or as an update for existing Chrome users.
In my opinion Google launching a new version of its flagship browser, Chrome, is a good thing. The number of Mac users in the nation is growing. It is important that leading technology companies do what they can to adjust to this demand.

Yahoo Music has announced on their blog that they have released an app of their popular Yahoo Music Stream for the iPod Touch and iPhone. The app itself will give access to more than 20 genres of music. Users will be allowed to skip up to six songs an hour. You will also be able to share songs with friends, buy songs from iTunes, or listen to local radios stations or CBS Music affiliates using the GPS feature.
People are always looking for ways to take their music on the go. The iPod and iPhone are two of the most popular gadgets today. Yahoo has now given consumers an easier way to access their favorite music.

In her blog, Riding the Short Bus, Kat has an article about a Louisville, Ohio man who for some reason decided to tattoo the letter A on a one year old's behind. The man in question apparently did not have permission from the child's mother to do so. He is in custody on one count of endangering a child. The suspects grandmother doesn't feel that it is right because it is just a tiny tattoo. Being a substitute teacher herself, the author has some interesting insight on the matter.

The Dummy Essentials blog is an easy to read blog that breaks technology down into layman's terms very well. In one of the first posts the anonymous author describes the importance of having only one antivirus on their PC. Any computer technician will tell you antivirus is an essential key to keeping your computer working properly. Having more than one antivirus can make both programs conflict with each other causing neither one to function properly. This of course leaves the user vulnerable. He also explains how multiple antivirus programs sometimes see each other as threats. The president was in the midst of working with the relief efforts for the victims of the Hatian earthquake. He had been hospitalized on Thursday in New York, complaining of chest pains. Two stints were placed in the former president's heat. The blog post is just another way CNN is offering coverage of people helping this horrible disaster.

Apple's Ipad
According to an article in PC World Online edition, Apple's new Ipad is being compared more to an over sized iPod Touch or iPhone rather than a downsized Mac. This may be due to the popularity both of these gadgets are already seeing in the marketplace today. The main advantage of this would be that the iPad would have a larger screen for things like surfing the web, watching videos and reading e-books. Industry insiders suggest the iPad could give major competition to established devices such as the Kindle. At the time of the article no suggested retail price was given for the iPad.
